It is morning where I am. I was looking at inara.cz. I clicked on galaxy. I put in my current system. I do planetary scan jobs and get fines or bounties. I like to pay them off because the local security force usually attacks me.
So in the galaxy section of inara I discovered that it tells you all of the stations in any system. You can click on one of those stations. If it has an interstellar factors it will tell you. If it does not have one the lower part of the station description it will say"Search for other services nearby" so you can find particular services nearby. You will see this below the update section. So click on the link to find interstellar factors. It will show you systems nearby to find a base with interstellar factors. Now these bases can be kind of confusing because I was trying to land at a base that had such a feature, but still was being attacked. This was a planet base. There was another star port in the system. I went there and was not attacked. I paid off the fine and all was good again.
I hope this helps.

Interstellar factors are in "low security" systems
I just attempt to jump to nearby galaxies until i find a low security one, then bookmark it. Maybe not the quickest way, but in vr it beats trying to use a secondary website.

This way is so much easier. Try it. You don't have to spend time searching for a low security system. It will tell you where the system and station is.

If you are running edmc, and have an inara account, inara will know where you are.

Interstellar factors are in all low sec systems. So filter your gal map to low sec systems and it will only show such systems.

Wow, you guys are something else. Inara takes 30 seconds to find a system within easy reach without having to look at the galaxy map.

while looking it up through Inara is nice and convenient, you can literally filter the galmap to show you the low security sectors around you and plot course. It takes about 10 seconds without having to alt-tab out.

I use Inara for a lot of things, it tracks my movement using EDMC. The gal map is the simplest way to find interstellar factors, any populated anarchy or low sec system has them, it is a case of clicking one filter in the gal map.

Gal map is the easiest way that i know of. Another way is through eddb.io. I haven't used inara or edmc while playing yet.

Yeah, this is one of those cases where the ingame tools are a bit more efficient than the third party ones.
1. Galmap
2. Filter low sec.
3. Plot route.
4. Profit.

I haven't spent much time using the gal map in vr, i haven't really bothered binding my hotas and its not the easiest thing to read menus in vr, but I will have to look more at the filters. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, this can be found on the gal-map as per everyone else, for me it is useful as I often play in VR aaaaand yeah, im not going to take off my rift to look at my laptop.
Low Security, go, pay.
the time saving of looking it up on a laptop or alt-tabbing out is practically zero when you use the filters on the gal map.

With inara.cz you can also just go inara.cz -> galaxy -> systems and stations -> nearest -> interstellar factors (enter reference system on the right, click search), then it'll show all the ISF's locations closest to the echosen reference star system field.

Indeed, though lets be really pedantic and set out the time scales.
"Oh I want to pay off a fine"
Press / head-look to the Nav panel select GalaxyMap
Option 1
Open Inara, do 4 mouse clicks, write in the name of the system you are in, press go, read off the system, find the system on the nav map, either because its visible, OR, type its name into the search.
Takes what? about 10-20 seconds ish depending
Option 2
Press Settings in the nav map, select show by security level, locate the nearest low security system, press the nav icon.
Takes much less than 10 seconds to do.
Now in 2D, thats fine, the difference is not all that much.
In VR the procedure is...
Take headset off - look at Inara, hold the headset so you can see the system you are in, do the above, put headset back on and get it positioned correctly... forget the system you were told to go to, and squint between the gap around your nose. LOL
Either way, correctly understanding how the menus work and what they show in game is generally faster for such a simple operation.

Thanks for sharing that bit of info. I've been trying to find a way to pay off a fine for a bit just so I can have access to a system. Thanks

It's better to use in game tools in this case.

While I agree the in-game option is preferable, I think its cool a new player takes the time to share some info he found with us. So cheers to the OP!
